For young Londoners and their families our support is needed more than ever. Join us and support our vital work today.
Many of us are feeling the effects of the current cost-of-living crisis, but no more so than the families and young Londoners we work alongside. Lack of affordable housing, financial inequality, and job stability are all obstacles’ Londoners are currently facing, but for those we work these difficulties are even further intensified due to the threats of violence and exploitation they currently already face.
In the past twelve months we have witnessed a significant increase in the number of referrals we have received. Our referrals for young Londoners affected by violence alone more than doubled over the course of the first six months in 2022.
Many of our cases are staying open for longer than the expected six months. This is due to the ever-growing complexities these cases present, with us seeing more high-risk safeguarding concerns than ever before. We can’t help but correlate these issues with the currently economic, along with the long-term impact of the Covid 19 pandemic.
One thing is clear, it is young Londoners and families who are impacted by violence and exploitation who are bearing the brunt of the cost of living crisis, with vital services and support feeling the burden. Many are over oversubscribed and under resourced
However, with our programs and support, we can provide wrap-around support to the young Londoners and families we work with, but we can’t do this work without your support.
The help, support and advice I received from Safer London was above and beyond. The support that they gave was amazing, it was easy working and talking to them. The communication was always there, and they showed compassion.
