Time to Listen
Every day, children and young people across London who’ve experienced harm are living through violence, exploitation and systemic failure. Too often, they’re labelled, judged or ignored.
We’re asking systems and society - not young people - to change. To stop making assumptions and to start listening.
Because when we listen, we being to understand and we see young Londoners for who they are – children and young people worthy of safety, support and hope.

What Is Time to Listen?
Time to Listen is a campaign built around real voices and real experiences of children and young people who’ve experienced harm and trauma.
At its heart is a film co-created with young Londoners. It aims to break down how young Londoners who’ve been pulled into a strong current of violence and crime are seen and supported, by encouraging people to look beyond and understand what’s really happening.

Real stories - real change
We listen without judgment.
We’ve worked with young Londoners who’ve been criminalised before they were ever seen as victims. We’ve listened to those who’ve lived through trauma and still found strength. We’ve stood beside them - not just when it’s easy, but when it’s critical.
It’s time to listen. To their truth. To their potential. To their future.

Theo's Story
Theo was 16 when he brought a knife to school. It was his first ever incident - but it led to exclusion. What people didn’t see was the fear behind the action. Days earlier, he’d been chased down the street with a machete.
We listened. We advocated. We stood beside him. Because when we stop judging and start listening, everything changes.

Isabella's story
Isabella was 14 when she was excluded from school for being violent towards school staff. But Isabella didn’t lash out because she wanted to. She became violent when touched - because she was traumatised.
At Safer London, we didn’t label her. Her caseworker didn’t ask her to change. She asked: “What do you want from me?” That moment of choice, of respect, changed everything.
